US CARGO SYSTEMS BROCHURES
2025DESCRIPTION

The Problem

At US Cargo Systems, my biggest challenge was turning an overwhelming amount of technical complexity into something usable, in print and online. Each aircraft platform USCS built for had close to 100 components, and going in, I had no real understanding of what any of them did.

The Work

After meeting with the sale team associates, I decided the way through was to organize everything on two axes: by aircraft platform, and by category (conveyance, guidance, flight restraint, etc). That structure became the backbone for both the brochures and the website.

Getting there wasn’t straightforward. Before I could design a single page, I had to gather every component’s specs and imagery and stage it all just to have something to work from. Writing the plain-language descriptions meant sitting down with engineers who didn’t have dedicated time for the project, so scheduling those conversations became its own bottleneck. For the brochure layout, I built a standardized header block listing platform, part number, and category, paired with a photo of the aircraft the part belonged to and a labeled diagram showing where the part installs. I also cleaned up a lot of the product photography myself, fixing lighting and upscaling resolution before anything was print-ready.

The website had the same organizational problem at a larger scale. I redesigned and prototyped it in Figma, building a framework that let B2B buyers find any component by product number, category, or aircraft platform. Basically, I took the searchability that engineers carried in their heads and built it into something a stranger could use.

The Solution and Results

Across 100+ brochures, the layout became a reusable template, so every platform followed the same visual system. I presented the brochure directions to the company president and the VP of Sales and Marketing and had to defend my design decisions to them. They voted on which template best fit the company’s visual direction, and that template became the standard for all USCS products.
